About Me

Hi there! My name is Coburn Getty, more publicly known as Shaggles. I have spent most of my life jumping between different creative outlets like game development, poetry, and music. I grew up in a small town with not very much to do, so I learned to entertain myself with the tools I had (A barely functioning PC).
Games
My love for videogames started as a form of escapism - a simple way for me to explore places and concepts beyond the limits of reality. Popular games like Minecraft, Skryim, and Plants Vs. Zombies weren't just fun to me; they were my gateways into creativity, storytelling, and world design. That early curiosity soon developed into a full grown obsession with building my own virtual worlds. I started teaching myself to code with languages like C#, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and have since developed multiple experiences build off of my early influences. Even further, I have proceeded to self publish those games on popular digital stores like Steam and Itch.io! I have also dabbled in building up a community to surround my games, as well as the marketing side of game development.
Books
I have been writing poetry for about as long as I can remember, usually during a quiet, midnight creative peak, or whenever I needed to sit down and process the hard times life was throwing at me. Growing up, Shel Silverstein was a huge inspiration and influence on not just my personality, but my writing as well. Recently I have started compiling my own poems and sketches into books which I have self-published through Amazon! It is so incredibly strange (yet rewarding) to hold a physical copy of a compilation of my life's hardest moments!
Music
Music has always been there to ground me throughout my life. I first started by playing the flute in elementary school, which was an amazingly hard instrument to play. From there, I kept adding instruments to my repretoire as often as I could; piano, guitar, and mandolin. Ever since I was young I wanted to be able to sing, and even tried reaching out to a few different music teachers as I went through school to try and recieve help with singing, to no avail. Until Covid in 2020, I never truly had the time to sit down and try to teach myself how to sing, and I honestly thought it was a dream bound to fail. Then when Covid did hit, and I was stuck inside with too much time, I started using it to research what I needed to do to improve my voice, this is also around the time where I finally took the leap to start releasing instrumental music onto Spotify. Now, after slowly teaching myself, I have officially released multiple original and cover songs; something I never thought I could do.
Who Am I?
I'm someone who feels most at home when I am creating something, anything at all, that might connect with another individual. Whether it's a line of poetry, a melody, or a particularly special game sequence, I try to infuse a piece of my own soul into every project. I've faced doubt, burnout, and imposter's syndrome to their full effects, but I keep going because creating helps me make sense of all that goes on around me.
If you've made it this far, than thank you! I hope something I've made is able to find its way to you and sticks.
